European E-sports Event Preview

images/news-pics/94_1328481858.bmp

European E-sports Event, EEE for short, is the newly made lan event in Sweden concentrating on console gaming. Ulrik Börjesson has done a great job attracting some big names such as Monster Energy and Microsoft to sponsor the event and EEE will be sure to leave its mark from the get go. EEE can hold up to 32 teams each event and even though this first event hasn’t really reached the goal of 20-25 teams yet it is still sure to be a hit to build from.

EEE is held at St Erik’s Gymnasium in the centre of Stockholm which is a great location to hold an event like this. In the future once the word has spread more about the event I am sure EEE will turn into a leading event just due to the location alone. Sweden has a long tradition with e-sport and has some of the biggest PC lans out there with DreamHack being the biggest in the world. It’s great to see new events coming up to follow that tradition but giving the console gaming the respect it deserves. What other way to show our support than to send, not just one, but two teams to EEE both on GoW and CoD.

With our latest two additions just recently it is good to see they will get their first lan under their belt for RoughNeX in Sweden at EEE. Both tournaments are missing some of the really big names which is a shame but nevertheless it will be a lan worth getting a good placement at. After both teams have got some very good results online as of late with their motivation and teamwork seem to be very high we expect good results from both teams.

Our Swedes will most defiantly be very eager to win against their long rivals Infensus after some trash talking for both teams back and forth, which will truly be a match to look out for. An RoughNeX.SWE vs Infensus final would be sure to cause many emotions and bring the best out of the lan spirit, one can only hope! At EEE everything can happen though and with this event looking to be the most open CoD tournament this year we are sure to see many upsets. This is what I think will make EEE such a great event though as the top 5 has never been so uncertain and open before.

Our newly acquired Gears of War team is sure to have a good time on their first event abroad and with the dominant force in the GoW scene apeX not showing the first place is up for grabs! EEE will be a good test before EGL5 where as RoughNeX will show their worth against the likes of apeX and Imperial. The spirit within the team is as high as it can be with RoughNeX beating a lot of the top teams online their consistency is splendid and anything except a top 3 placement will be a disappointment with the high expectations they have of themselves. So who do you think will blaze EEE? Will RoughNeX get their breakthrough and ace the Swedish leading console lan or will any of the unknown Swedish teams prove to be able to compete with the greats?

With EEE looking to be a top event we are sure it will be one to follow and seeing this is the first event EEE holds it can only turn into greatness after what seems to become a decent turnout. Keep a look out on twitter, facebook or here for any news concerning EEE once it starts. If you want to know more about Ulrik and EEE then read the interview I did with him a few months ago here.

RoughNeX Goes For Swedes

EEE is getting really close now and what other way to approaching that is there than sending a RoughNeX team there? Today we are happy to announce that we have picked up a Swedish MW3 360 side with a known Swedish team of experienced players and who will concentrate on the Swedish LANs that are starting to appear all over Sweden. Leading the team is the notorious Sweden NikzeN who has a past as a PS3 player but made the switch over to the 360 some time ago and proven himself to become one of the best players from his nation. Alongside him are two friends, who placed 3rd at WH and 1st at Inferno - none other than Thomas “ Sweden Brando ” Wingren and Sean “ Sweden Manley ” Manley. For the fourth pick, they will try out the upcoming star Daniel “ Sweden BreakN ” Adolfsson - but despise being inexperienced at Lan level, he has been in the scene for years and brings a lot of online experience with him.

Niclas “NikzeN” Sjöström had this to say about getting into RoughNeX:

“I choose to contact RoughNeX because I’ve known Sweden Betrayed for a long time and got a good relation due to us both being Swedes. I also know United Kingdom Lanky pretty well from my PS3 days as we played against each other from time to time in different tournaments or ladders. We wish to continue RoughNeX success with being one of the top Swedish teams.”

RoughNeX.SWE (MW3 360)

Jimmy Sweden Betrayed Barendt (Manager)

Niclas Sweden NikzeN Sjöström (Captain)
Thomas Sweden Brando Wingren
Daniel Sweden BreakN Adolfsson
Sean Sweden Manley Manley

On a side note, this team will be managed by Jimmy Sweden Betrayed Barendt - after having a huge hand in the current boom of the org, it has been decided to promote him into the managerial side of things. For all the dedication put him by Jimmy, this is a just reward.
Good luck to the RoughNeX.SWE team, and look out for more from them in the near future.
